What’s one tax lesson you wish someone had taught you sooner?

A conversation with my uncle made me think…

He said, “I spent decades trying to earn more money, but I never spent even a day learning how taxes actually work.”

Looking back, he believes understanding taxes earlier would have saved him thousands.

I’d say understanding the difference between tax avoidance (legal planning) and tax evasion (illegal). Many people end up paying more simply because they don’t know about legitimate deductions, credits, and tax-efficient investment strategies.
