Just did the math. After taxes, rent, car payment, student loan, and groceries . I have about
$200 left over each month. I make more than 70% of Americans supposedly. Something doesn’t
add up. Is this just life now or am I doing something catastrophically wrong?

You’re not failing at adulthood—the math is just exposing how disconnected wages and living costs have become for most people right now.

You’re not alone in feeling this way. For many households, it’s not just about income anymore—it’s about how quickly housing, transportation, groceries, and debt payments have outpaced wage growth. That doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing something “catastrophically wrong,” but it’s worth reviewing your budget to see where small changes can make a difference.
